Day 427, Tuesday April 28

Here's a picture of us from our Sunday hike at Castle Craig, Connecticut. Kat took the picture looking down from the top of one of the sharp ledges we had to climb. I think this is the one where I had to stop. The combination of late summer heat and early spring foliage gave an odd out-of-synch feeling to the day.

Yesterday was just as hot, but I didn't hike. 2.1 miles.

Yay! The daffodils are blooming. If they don't get frozen solid, they'll be doing well. The snow is most of the way back down the mountain. Brr.

Today, I played the part of a dedicated shopper :p. But it was nice enough that I did it in just a sweatshirt ;). Hope your weathers were just as pleasant.

Almost made the minimum, though I don't know whether any of it should count. Errands and walking through store after store looking at captain's beds. I can't put the sheets on our current one because it's a waterbed frame with hard wood sides all around the mattress and my hands aren't strong enough.

Hot day, and I mean really hot, as in not quite 90F. Far too hot for April, but the forsythia are blooming now, and the birches in the back yard are showing buds.

I walked 2.3 miles, a good part of it behind the lawn mower. No photos of me mowing the lawn, unfortunately.

We didn't see the spider till we uploaded the photos Sunday night!

The rain last night was snow much of the way down the mountain, but we were *safe* from it. Pup and I walked in the morning and evening, plus I got a decent noon walk in today. A bit chilly, but okay. 5.24 miles

Day 421, Wednesday April 22

I have an excuse for shortening each of my three walks today! This morning the neighbors were loading a semi of cattle, and there was a lot of heavy traffic on our road--pickup trucks hauling stock trailers. Brody and I weren't having any fun with him heeling fulltime. At noon I ran into one of my SILs that I rarely see, and after work Brody and I did most of our walk despite some of the heaviest wind I've seen since winter. I'm glad we went when we did, though, as it started to pour while I cooked supper afterward and hasn't let up since. Today: 3.71 miles.

Here's from our Sunday walk along the lakeshore.

This morning on my walk I had some sciatic twinges, which shortened my walk. Noon had a haircut and another walk, also a bit short due to sciatic. It seemed to settle down later, so while hubby worked OT, the pup and I took a long walk after work. Today's total: 4.32

Sorry I kinda vanished for a couple days. I did have my pedometer on, though! Friday's count says 3.45 miles and Saturday's 4.52. I'm pretty sure Friday's is wrong--the pedometer is darn picky about which way it rides, but I'll leave it for now.

Grass is green, daffodils are blooming, and the blackbirds are chirping and trilling up a major cacaphony. I washed my parka and mitts and put them away. It's spring :)

Still tired, but kept moving today as best as possible. Walked Brody in the morning, walked part of my noon hour, and Jim and I and the pup walked after supper. Yay, the days are long enough now we can choose whether to walk before or after! Today: 4.02 miles.

A cool and wet day, high only about 40 with rain on and off. Walked 1.5 with Bonnie in the morning. Road the stationary bike an easy 5 miles in the afternoon 1 mile walk to the symphony and back.

Morning and (short) afternoon walk. In between I tried to burn down the farm and got quite a few steps running around with the hose and a shovel. Sadly our Clipper canoe melted, but that's all the damage that mattered in the end. Close call. 4.47 miles today.

Puppy walk in the morning, after which I made the difficult decision to have George euthanized today. Hung out at noon with my sis-in-law. Jim and Brody and I went for a short walk after we buried the kitty. I guess I did more pacing today than I thought: 3.96 miles

Today we had spring here. Like, didn't even need the hoodie at noon hour. Had a really good walk then, as well as the puppy walks morning and evening, then out to a meeting in the evening. Total: 5.74 miles

Day 403, Saturday April 4

Is this what it looks like at my house? No. I just wanted to look at spring! I took this photo at Butchart Gardens near Victoria 11 months ago, in early May.

Today Brody and I did our early walk, then we had company much of the day. When they left, Jim and I and the pup went for a walk to the end of the road and then out along the irrigation channel for a ways. Lots of birds--geese overheade, humungous flocks of starlings, some red-winged blackbirds and robins. Today: 5.31 miles.

Day 402, Friday April 3

Was raining, so planned to go to the gym, but all the equipment was taken, so went running 3.5, it was only a light drizzle so rather nice. Bonnie and I went for a 1 mile walk in the evening. The cat followed us and then caused a neighbor dog to jump his invisible fence. So we went to tell them that there dog had bolted inthe woods. Turned out they had just found out a relative had died after a long struggle with cancer. After hugs and condolances the dog did return. Missed a step on the way out and jamed my knee, have to see how it feels this afternoon, but really stiff.
