It was nice and warm today. Got two walks, saw the heron on both of them. First sighting of the quail family and some baby ducks, though not recently hatched…easily 2+ weeks old.

Day 366, Thursday February 26

The puddles in the driveway were iced back over this morning, and it snowed on and off. Brody and I got our morning walk, I did walk at noon (it wasn't snowing then, thankfully) and the hubby, the pup and I walked after work. My back was kinda flared this afternoon so I'm impressed how much walking I got today: 4.95 miles. Forgot to log in yesterday, it was 4.71.

Day 363, Monday, February 23

So it warmed up. You guessed it--it snowed. Not a lot, but it was dumping the huge goofy flakes while Brody and I walked before work. Enough to make the roads slick and to make the sidewalk need de-slopping. It was melting pretty good by my noon walk, and mud again by the after work walk. Total today: 4.34 miles

Day 362, Sunday, February 22

Did we mess up our count somewhere? Didn't we start the count on March first 2008 when we started the Appalachian Trail? Color me confused. Or Math-challenged.

Another -15C morning (that seems to be +5F). I stayed in the house till the sun made it over the mountain and then walked with the pup and the camera. Posted my photos In My Little World. Then the clouds came back in and we felt rather bleh and didn't go out for a walk elsewhere, so another (shorter) walk down the road in late afternoon. Total today: 3.99 miles.

Day 361, Saturday, February 21

So very cold first thing in the morning, -15C. Nearly froze my nose. Hubby worked this morning, we went out to buy organic cheese this afternoon, then took the pup for a walk elsewhere. Very muddy so short. I took him longer once we got home because we didn't have enough steps yet. Total today: 5.13

Day 359, Thursday February 19

Another day in the life of Val. Got going a bit early to walk Brody this morning as I had an appointment to have blood sucked before work. Routine stuff, no panicking. Got a decent walk in at noon, though I'm not sure why the sun shines other times of the day but hides between twelve and one. Grabbed the pup for a walk again at home, for a total today of 5.3 miles.

I seem to be in New York now, at Wawayanda Shelter. I was going to post a photo I found on Google images, but it looks just the same as the last shelter. Meh. Just like my days.

Pedometer says 1.8 miles. I thought it ought to have added up to more than that, but on reflection I can see I was being overoptimistic. And my blisters hurt, too.

For the President's Day holiday, Neil and I drove out onto Cape Cod and went hiking on Great Island in Wellfleet. Photos here. We walked about 6.5 miles, much of it in soft sand, so I'm tired tonight. But it's a good tired *g*

Last day of Boskone and 2.3 miles. I was going to go for an evening walk with Neil, but we're planning to hike by the ocean tomorrow so I think I'll take it easy tonight.

Day 354 Valentine's Day

Still cold, still not sunny. Still feeling BLEH about it all. Pup and I walked in the morning, hubby and I went for a drive to the next town over to get my lenses installed into new unbroken (as of yet) frames and do a little shopping. Came home, walked the pup. Total: 5.02 miles

So it sort of got above freezing for a couple of hours today, but the sun didn't shine. At least not directly on me! Two walks for me'n'the pup for a total of 4.03 miles.

Walked Brody before work, got a lunchtime walk in, and a shortish after-work walk with Jim and the pup. It's cold, the sun isn't shining, and I want to go visit Jean in Texas. Right this minute. Even being in Mashipacong Shelter in New Jersey isn't making up for it. Even if the picture shows summer. I know better.

My days are pretty repetitive. Is that why no one wants to take point here on the blog and keep doing it day after day, week after week? Get up, walk the dog. Walk a bit at noon (today I walked to the library), walk the dog after work. Sum total today, 4.54 miles. Yawn.

Day 343, Tuesday February 3

Pup got a short walk before work. I think I need to drag my body out of bed earlier! It was sunny at noon and I got a nice walk then. I was excited to see the sun still above the mountain when I headed home at five. Even put my sunglasses on. What a waste! As soon as I dropped into the valley, the fog was pea-soup thick. So thick I looked for my reflective vest before walking Brody. Hubby had a dental appointment after work so we left him to his entertainment. Today: 4.99 miles.

Well, Mondays are nasty, what can I say. Brody got the bare minimum before work today, and we walked with hubby after work, and HE wasn't into a long walk. So my day landed up at 2.29 miles, and the puppy is ricocheting around the living room as we speak. Ah well.

Both days this weekend Brody and I have been to the far end of the road and back morning and evening. Yesterday I also got Jim to drop me off at the neighbors as I needed to discuss flooring with them for their new house, and then walked home so I got a bit more. We've been busy tiling our kitchen peninsula countertop this weekend--finished and beautiful. Now next project :)
